This March 9th, we celebrate World Spanish Omelette Day, and what better way to do it than with a Tortilla from CASA DANI!
At CASA DANI, we embrace this day with enthusiasm because, if there’s one thing that defines us, it’s our passion for this iconic dish of Spanish cuisine. That’s why we want to share this special day with all of you, paying tribute to tradition and the authentic flavor of our Tortilla with a little bit of its history.
The Preparation:
Since 1991, in the heart of Madrid’s Mercado de la Paz, we have perfected our recipe, originally from Grandmother Rosario, the mother of our head chef, Lola.
Lola has mastered a Tortilla that is pure balance: well-sealed on the outside, juicy on the inside, and with that unmistakable touch of flavor. The secret lies in the details—using Agria variety potatoes, as they hold the perfect texture without falling apart, cooking them slowly until tender, and mixing them with carefully selected fresh brown eggs to achieve the perfect creaminess.
If you’re a fan of “with onion”, we cook it slowly until it’s perfectly caramelized.
As Lola, our soul and inspiration, always says: "There’s no trick—just great ingredients and a lot of passion."
The Award:
In 2019, our Tortilla was recognized as the best in Spain, winning First Prize at the II National Tortilla Championship. Our Tortilla made a lasting impression on the jury and on everyone who has tasted it. They say there is a before and after once you try a bite of our Tortilla. It’s not just us saying it—you, our customers, say it every time you visit us.
